  1. Oh, wow. I passed out at 7:30 last night, and after waking up at 2:30, had trouble getting on the internet and other distractions until 3:30. I totally wasn't expecting a most excellent Direct Currents waiting for me. Thank you, Liss!

I'm really glad the right creative team is finally doing Aquaman justice. Still, Johns' hypothetical scene just makes Aquaman come off like a dick, and he's the last guy to lead the universe into anything. The whole Sea Kind angle is what always tanks the character, partially because monarchs are boring, and partially because Aquaman is really bad at it. His one turn as leader of the Justice League resulted in the Detroit era, and his governance of Atlantis saw it completely destroyed. Aquaman can't even supervise his own supporting cast, with his kid sidekicking knocking up his ex-girlfriend until they all died. That also made one surrogate dead son to go with the two deceased birth ones. Looking at de facto League leader Superman, routinely appointed team leader Batman, and occasional team leader and less horrible royalty Wonder Woman and trying to call the shots is like Bush running for a third term in 2012.

  2. You're welcome!

Personally, I'm kinda psyched the most for the possibility that Diamond might ship comics on Tuesday. I was really happy to hear that. That means I might get my weekly shipment on Friday for a change.

Your point about Aquaman and royalty who just cant' get things right reminded me of Cracked's writeup of King John. I think the royalty angle is mildly interesting, but if it just winds up messing up the character, it's not worth it for me. I'm liking the Aquaman in Brightest Day, however you want to define him.
