1991-92 Impel DC Cosmic Cards #94- Eclipso

There are dozens of characters I want to cover on this blog as time allows. In the event of my doing a multi-blog crossover involving villainous trading card recipients from DC's ugly first universe-spanning set, the only choice to represent here was Eclipso. I've been a fan of the MPD psycho since his mini-series in the early '90s, and I've got a Showcase Presents edition waiting to be pillaged... after I get done with oodles of other characters I've already started on. Anybody missing Captain Comet yet? I could have tried to play Eclipso off as a John Stewart foe, but I still haven't "officially" added that Green Lantern to our roster via a head shot, and Eclipso was more Hal Jordan's anyway.

The art on these cards was hit or miss, since the fan favorites pencillers who weren't at Marvel were already plotting the Image exodus. This number was done by Trevor Von Eeden, whose more angular/impressionistic work I remain a big fan of, and this more commercial style suited well enough here. Inks were by Dave Cooper, a name that means nothing to me.

Perhaps this site is where I should drop all of my Eclipso love. Especially with him making a comeback soon in the pages of Justice League.

It's your space if you want it. I'd love to see the love you've got to give to the God of Vengeance!
