The original WB Animation Studio Mural (the one that aped Mount Rushmore) went up during the studio's cartoon renaissance in the early '90s. It was taken down in December of 2008, and its replacement was unveiled at a ceremony on April 09, 2009 hosted by Mario Lopez. '60s Catwoman Julie Newmar, B:TB&TB Batman voice Diedrich Bader, an actress dressed as Wonder Woman, and plenty of behind the scenes animation types were in attendance.
Peter Girardi conceived the new mural, while Tommy Tejeda drew the figures, based on notes from Glen Murakami, Bruce Timm, and James Tucker. It features a Hall of Justice staffed by Aquaman, Batman, Blue Beetle, Cyborg, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Robin, Starfire, Superman and Wonder Woman. The Flash was spotted at a local tavern, weeping over how this wouldn't have happened to Barry. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Scooby-Doo, Sylvester and Tweety are in the background as well-wishers. The stealthy Catwoman, Clayface, Harley Quinn, the Joker, Mr. Freeze and Two-Face are also lurking. Rather than having Batman's villains present at all times to clutter the image, they only come out at night, in the neon purple light, their presence obscured by an opaque screen in the daytime.
